"I went to an ungraded free form school up through the 8th grade, but I wanted a high school transcript for my high school work because I planned to go to college.  I knew that having a high school transcript that showed what I learned is important.  River Valley was "the perfect fit" for me!  I felt comfortable there beacause it's not a huge school with thousands of kids.  I really liked the teachers, too.  Not only did I learn a lot, but I really had a lot of fun!  When I graduated, I was accepted to the school of my dreams - Humboldt State.  Thanks, River Valley!"  Jesse T-B.

 

"My son, Tim, wanted to be on independent study because he didn't like the classroom environment.  He would rather be outside fishing or biking.  I enrolled him in a public independent study program, but it didn't work for him.  He would procrastinate and not get the work done.  There are many things I really like about River Valley's Independent Study Plus Program.  First, I am part of Tim's "learning team", so I can give Tim the support he needs.  I wasn't allowed to be a part of Tim's schooling before.  Second, the structure.  I always know what  assignments are due when, AND I know if he has done them or if he needs help.  There are no surprises!  Third, if I need to communicate with the school, they are just a phone call or a visit away!  No "push this button" or email questions and hope for an answer.  River Valley is really working for Tim!"
